Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Take a moment today to reflect on the importance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. He was a man who fought for civil rights, but also had a strong focus on the need to do work that benefited others. The holiday is recognized as a federal holiday and John Conyers, a Congressman from Michigan, was the man who first introduced legislation for a commemorative holiday.

Here are a few facts for you about MLK Day:

  • Illinois is first state to adopt Martin Luther King Day as a state holiday
  • Congress passes, President Reagan signs, legislation creating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in 1983
  • It’s always celebrated the 3rd Monday in January

Detroit Business Consulting Hosts Halloween Party

For the past few years, it has been tradition for us to have a Halloween party and celebration.  Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at a few of the past year’s costumes.

This year’s Halloween party was planned largely by Nicole Lysak, a member of our nonprofit team.  Nicole completely planned the mystery murder night party we had last fall.  Let’s take a look at how elaborate that event was…..


Needless to say, we are expecting BIG things from tonight’s event!  Everyone will be done with work early today, so enjoy your short Friday and have a great time at the party tonight!  Happy Halloween!
